Ethernet switch leader Cisco challenged in Layer 4-7
The Ethernet switch market grew 35% in the second quarter from last year, and 1% from Q1 to $5.2 billion, according to investment firm UBS. Cisco maintained its dominant share of the Layer 2-3 sector with 72%, while Juniper continued to gain - Cisco's rival now has just under 2% share, up from 1.5% in Q1 and 1.3% a year ago.  Read more

Brocade set to take Cisco, Juniper on in 100G
Brocade is ready to give Cisco and Juniper a run for the money in 100G Ethernet. Cisco bug behind small scale Internet outage
Cisco says it has patched a bug in its routers that was behind the outage affecting 1% of the Internet last week. As colleague Robert McMillan of the IDG News Service reported, an experiment run by Duke University and a European group responsible for managing Internet resources disrupted a small percentage of Internet traffic.
